We Are Here To Help You And Your Pet

If you believe your pet is experiencing an emergency, please call us now at 210-428-6831 to speak with a trained member of our medical staff. At Perrin-410, we know that in an emergency, seconds count, and we are always prepared to give your cat or dog the utmost in emergency care.

What is pet emergency care?

Pet emergency care is similar to human care in that we want to assess the situation and begin restorative actions for your cat or dog as quickly as possible. Our highly trained and experienced team will give your critical or urgent care pet immediate attention as soon as you walk through the door. Unlike many vet clinics in the city, we are fully emergency equipped with a dedicated surgical suite, a digital xray machine, a CPR unit, and even blood transfusion sets. We know how frightening an emergency with your pet can be for you, so we want to give you every assurance that your cat or dog is in the best hands.

Signs of a pet emergency:

Signs that your pet might be having an emergency or may need urgent care include:

  • Seizures
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Sudden collapse or dizziness
  • Severe injury, particularly when caused by a car, animal fight, or considerable fall
  • Labor difficulties
  • Sudden or repetitive vomiting or diarrhea
  • Blood from the mouth, nose, anus, or urethra
  • Inability or straining to urinate
  • Ingestion of toxic or poisonous substance
  • Dry heaving or a sudden large, tight abdomen
  • Discharge from the genitalia
  • Lack of appetite/thirst for more than 24 hours
  • Lethargy or severe lack of energy for more than 24 hours
  • Any injury or abnormality involving the eyes or ears

If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms, please give us a call immediately! Time does matter with urgent care injuries and illnesses, so please don’t delay in getting your pet in for care right away!

When you come to us for emergency care

Because we are an emergency-capable facility, we are fully prepared for every urgent case, and our staff is fully trained and highly experienced in handling every type of critical care. We understand, though, that cost of care and quality of life are concerns for every pet owner, and we will always respect the owner’s decision for their pet’s care or humane euthanasia in these difficult times.

In regard to this concern for our clients’ power of decision and monetary capabilities, when a critical patient is brought in for care, our protocol is to ask whether the owner would prefer to speak with the doctor prior to any emergency care for their pet or if critical emergency care may be started and the pet stabilized before speaking with the vet. If immediate care is approved, the hospital does require a deposit to cover the costs of standard urgent response care, such as blood work, x-rays, CPR, or sedation. But don’t worry–our staff will walk you through every step of the process quickly and efficiently to figure out what’s best for you and best for your pet.

If you are concerned about covering your pet’s emergency costs, we encourage you to apply for CareCredit, a credit card with instant approval decisions, designed specifically for medical (pet and people!) procedures and needs. Please give us a call for more specifications on Perrin-410′s no-interest for 6 months agreement with CareCredit.
